No. WhisperMemo processes everything on your device. Audio, transcripts, and AI-generated summaries / titles / emotion tags are stored only on your iPhone (and optionally in your iCloud). See the Privacy Policy for details.
WhisperMemo downloads the speech recognition model (Whisper) from HuggingFace. About 145 MB for the default base model. After this one-time download, transcription runs fully offline. No personal information or recordings are sent during this download.
On Apple Intelligence–capable devices (iPhone 15 Pro or later, running iOS 26 or later, with Apple Intelligence enabled in your Apple ID), AI features run automatically. On other devices, you can enable them by downloading Qwen 2.5 3B (~2 GB) from the "Local AI (Offline)" section in Settings. The download starts only when you tap the button.
By default, audio recordings are retained for 30 days and then automatically deleted. In Settings → "Audio storage" you can choose from "Delete immediately after transcription", "30 days", or "Keep forever". You can also switch an individual memo to "Keep forever" from its detail screen menu. Transcripts and AI summaries are managed separately and are not deleted with the audio.
The memo detail screen shows a "Retry" button. Transcription can occasionally fail while the Whisper model is loading; trying again after a few moments usually succeeds.

Yes. Pick a Vault folder in Settings, and each recorded memo is exported as a Markdown file. Works with Obsidian, iA Writer, or any Markdown-compatible note app.
In Settings → "Notifications", you can enable a morning reminder. The reminder is a local notification scheduled entirely on your device — nothing is sent to an external server. You can change the time in the same Settings screen.
